"Hey coach, yeah, I'm not gonna be able to workout today. I've got this weird thing on my toenail. I'm just gonna take the day off."
Happens all the time.
On a serious note, quite often athletes will come to you before a session (or mid-session) and complain that an exercise is bothering them. As a coach, you better be ready to ask questions and modify the workout for that athlete. On episode 42 of R/Strong Podcast I gave some tips on how to deal with that situation.
We also discussed how often middle schoolers should train and some tricks to doing your least favorite workout.
I also tell a story about a young man named Jimmy John who rolled his ankle delivering sandwiches.
Give it a listen!
